The Young Professionals in International Affairs is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization that brings together globally minded citizens in a neutral space to engage on international affairs through educational forums, networking and professional development. Our vision is for young and young at heart professionals from all backgrounds to create an interconnected global community that actively engages on international affairs in a multifaceted way, creating a better understanding of the world around them.
YPIA is the only organization in the Washington D.C. area where YOU get speak and actively contribute to events and discussions. We value mutual respect of different viewpoints, commitment to civil dialogue, and continuous learning and development where members are treated as the unique individuals that they are. All attendees to events are required to adhere to the YPIA Code of Conduct. We have built a community of peers, near-peers, and long-established professionals preparing for or advancing diverse careers in today's international affairs.
YPIA was founded in June 2006 as an independent, non-partisan, volunteer based organization. Membership dues are kept low to ensure and diverse and inclusive member base. YPIA has very little overhead and uses donations and membership fees for web presence, administrative costs and to provide quality programming for members.
